Arondizuogu, Imo State – A tragic incident has sent shockwaves through Okigwe Arondizuogu following the alleged killing of Ugochukwu Okoro, a young pro-Biafra activist, by Nigerian military forces during a peaceful protest demanding the release of IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

The incident, which took place on September 13, 2022, has ignited widespread outrage, prompting mass demonstrations by local youths decrying what they describe as state-sponsored oppression and extrajudicial killings.

According to reports, Okoro was actively participating in the pro-Biafra movement when security forces opened fire, fatally shooting him on the spot. His death sent shockwaves through the community, triggering protests that security forces allegedly met with further violence and repression.

Security Forces Open Fire Again, Leaving More Dead:

Just four days after the initial demonstration, the situation escalated dramatically as military personnel reportedly stormed Okigwe Arondizuogu, opening fire on unarmed youths and leaving multiple casualties in their wake.

Eyewitness accounts confirm that in addition to the lives lost, properties were destroyed, with vehicles, including one belonging to Victor Onyeabor Okoro, the deceased’s elder brother, set ablaze.

Information reaching our correspondent indicates that security forces have now declared multiple Arondizuogu youths wanted, including Emeka Odinaka, Chukwuma Ejike, Kosisochukwu Udemba, Kingsley Mgbeojikwe, Victor Onyeabor Okoro and others.

“It Was a Massacre” – Eyewitnesses Speak Out.

Residents of Arondizuogu have described the event as a massacre, accusing security forces of employing excessive force against peaceful demonstrators.

An eyewitness, who requested anonymity for safety reasons, described the scene:

“It was terrifying. They came in shooting without warning. People ran for their lives, but the soldiers kept firing. Many were killed, and those who survived have gone into hiding. We are living in fear.”

As fear and uncertainty grip Arondizuogu, human rights groups and community leaders are calling for an independent investigation into the killings, demanding that the Nigerian government be held accountable.

Meanwhile, authorities have remained silent, leaving the grieving families of the victims and an outraged community searching for answers.
