AFRICA WOMEN’S CUP OF NATIONS 2022: TWO SUPER FALCONS WHO WILL NOT PLAY REVEALED

China-based players Desire Oparanoize and Chinwendu Ihezuo will not feature at this year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco next month due to China 🇨🇳 border issues.

This was revealed in a tweet on the official handle of the Super Falcons.

Oparanoize who plays for Wuhan Jianghan University was one of the nine forwards called up by coach Randy Waldrum for the 2022 WAFCON in Morocco. She’s been replaced in the squad by Anam Imo while Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene has been drafted in for Chinwendu Ihezuo of Meizhou Hakka.

The Falcons are in Group C alongside South Africa, Botswana and Burundi.

Nigeria will open their campaign against South Africa on July 4 in Rabat.

Meanwhile, the 2022 WAFCON also doubles as qualifiers for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
