NIGERIANS AND THE DISTURBING TRAGEDY OF COUNTERFEIT MEDICINE/WHOLESOME PRODUCTS

In the last couple of weeks, we have been inundated with the disturbing story of massive clampdown on dealers/manufacturers of “death” in the name of medicines and counterfeit wholesome products Once, I had argued that Nigerians hardly die of natural causes. We are k!lled mostly by ruthless financial buccaneers, scavengers, daredevil counterfeit cartels, those who package just anything in the name of medicines and wholesome products. Apart from rampaging poverty, we are victims of mindless profiteering, spearheaded by charlatans who do not care about human life.
Ttust me, as it is in Aba, Onitsha, so it is in Lagos, Kano, Maiduguri, Benin and indeed every part of Nigeria. If only we had an effective policy on post mortem procedures, we would have realised that most deaths in Nigeria were or are caused by chalks packaged as caplets, unclean water sold as dextrose, po!son delivered as injections and powder packaged as capsules. No mercy! No remorse! These men and merchants continue unabated.

I do not know whether to blame this heinous crime on poor implementation of regulatory policies, profound quest for wealth or a joint criminal enterprise between interested parties and those enablers of evil. Whatever it is, Nigerians have been exposed to the most reckless inhuman treatment.
These men are bold, they operate without hindrance and carefully rake advantage of the mind – blowing poverty rate to unleash their terror.
Dear NAFDAC, kudos to your very recent efforts. You need to make this a regular routine, be more decisive and resilient as ever. Stop the avoidable carnage. The N1tr seizure is just a tip of the iceberg. Work in synergy with property owners, court the police, enlist the army (because we are at war with these daredevil squad) to find a lasting solution to this national disaster. Your once in two years raid is hardly enough. I implore you to be more intentional about this challenge. These men are determined to annihilate us from the surface of the earth.
Yes! Most of what we consume as distilled water did not pass through any distilling process, men and women go to sources of unsafe water to fetch water. If you doubt what I am saying, take a few samples of what they sell to you as “sachet” or “bottled” wàter at those checkpoints, you will be shocked that most of them value money more than human life. They do not care because they are all furthering the promotion of untimely deaths
Dear BUSINESSMAN, the counterfeit medicines and the counterfeit wholesome products you sell or distribute have sent many, including your loved ones to their untimely graves. You have made our medical doctors, pharmacists, chemists and caregivers appear fraudulent, unprofessional and non – cĥallant. Stop killing your own.
Dear CITIZIEN, please help government to fight this ev!l. These agents of death have theor factories, laboratories and businesses around you. Report them today!
