NDI ABIA AND THE REALITY OF HAVING A PRACTISING ENGINEER AS GOVERNOR

Today, as President Buhari commissioned projects delivered by the Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umuahi; the President underlined the fact that Umahi being an Engineer accounts for the excellence associated with his performance as Governor.

Let us put this in proper context. When Stephen Keshi, a master libero and defensive midfielder (during his hey days as a player) was in charge of the Super Eagles, his formations and strategies demonstrated his specialty – Defensive midfield. Nobody can give what he does not have.

There is something about Engineers in governance. Check out Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State. They come with the mindset to build and develop. They do things differently and they post excellent results. I also do not think this is a coincidence. This has to do with training and pathological disposition.

Abia has a practising Engineer who like Dave and Seyi, is trained to show ZERO TOLERANCE FOR EXCUSES. He has skill and industry sense. He is committed to service. He has the capacity to serve and has demonstrated overtime that aspiring to be Governor came out of his own volition, nobody “begged” him to “come and be Governor”.
