Gov. Ikpeazu’s recent interview was a rare display of admixture of courage and truth. He took the bull by the horn in saying that dreaded truth which everyone knows but none says.
Boldly and bluntly, he said that the agitation of Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB is anchored on truth and facts that should and must be addressed.
In the Igbo worldview, no father who truly worth his salt can truly disown his son from his heart. Nnamdi Kanu is Ikpeazu’s son. Irrespective of whatever grevious charges that may be levelled against him, Gov. Ikpeazu insists that he is innocent and must be seen to be treated as such until his guilt is transparently established in a court of competent jurisdiction.
Above all, he advocated that a political solution must be explored for the release of Nnamdi Kanu and resolution of the salient issues which brought about the Biafran agitation in the first place. He insisted that if murderous bandits in North East who have no justiciable reason behind their action other than criminality and greed could be negotiated with by the federal government, it is important that IPOB should be negotiated with.
Spot on.
No one could have said it any better than Gov. Ikpeazu. The truth may be bitter but someone with balls must have to say it. Gov. Ikpeazu has said it, and anyone is feels otherwise should go and hug a transformer.
To me, this is the most courageous thing Ikpeazu has said as a governor. Remaining silent would have amounted to a serious disservice to posterity, and history wouldn’t have been kind to him.
For saying the bitter truth, Gov. Ikpeazu has my respect.
