Management of the Abia State University, Uturu has announced November 12, 2021 as the date for the 27th & 28th Convocation ceremony of the institution. ABSU further announced that the Executive Governor of Abia State and Visitor to the University, His Excellency Okezie Victor Ikpeazu Ph.D will grace the occasion.
In a release issued by the Registrar of the institution, Dr. Acho Elendu, the Vice Chancellor Distinguished Prof. Onyemachi M. Ogbulu on behalf of the Hon. Chancellor HRH Prof. James Ortese Ayatse, Tor Tiv, Governing Council  and Senate invites the academia, friends and well wishers to the combined convocation ceremony which will commence with Pre – Convocation Press briefing on the 9th of November.
The major highlight of the 12th event will be commissioning of projects, conferment of First Degrees and Higher Degrees. Eminent Nigerians like Chief Allen Ifechukwu Onyema, Chairman Air Peace Limited and Dame Gladys Nne Nwafor, former National Commissioner, INEC (South – East) and one other will receive Award of Honorary Doctorate Degrees.
According to the Registrar, there will be Book and Arts Exhibition among others on the 10th of November heralding the Pre – Convocation lecture on the 11th of November to be delivered by Hon. Chief Nnia Nwodo, former Hon. Minister for Information and immediate past President – General, Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide
It would be recalled that the University had scheduled 27th March 2020 for the 27th Convocation ceremony but quickly postponed it indefinitely as Abia and several other States locked down at the heat of COVID 19 pandemic. It is expected that students who were graduated in 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 sessions will make up the 27th and 28th set respectively.
