ABIA 2023: “PRIMARY ELECTIONS FOR ABIA NORTH INCONCLUSIVE” – UKO NKOLE BLOWS HOT

says … there was no primary elections for Arochukwu State Constituency

The last may not have been heard of the struggle for who would fly the flag of the People’s Democratic Party  (PDP) in Abia North Senatorial District. Hon. Uko Nkole, the incumbent member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency and an aspirant to the Senate seat has stated in unequivocal terms that “no winner emerged” during the primaries held on the 24th of May 2022 at Ohafia.

Hon. Uko Nkole

In a virtual interactive session with a local radio station today in Umuahia and monitored by BENUDECHUKWU.COM, the Fellow National Institute of Town Planners revealed that what happened during the purported primary elections is a “charade” which result cannot stand. According to the two time member of House of Representatives, on the 24th of May only delegates from Umunneochi voted, leaving out voters from the other four local governments of Bende, Arochukwu, Isuikwuato and Ohafia.

The Abam born politician said unless the District has been reduced to only one local government, there is  no way a winner would have emerged when voting was yet to be concluded. Hon. Nkole further described as unfortunate the news being promoted by his opponent Sen. Mao Ohuabunwa as being returned elected. “Neither Uko nor any other can sincerely  claim to have been duly elected”, Nkole revealed.

AROCHUKWU STATE CONSTITUENCY

Hon. Nkole informed his interviewer that there was no primary election for Arochukwu State Constituency as according to him, members of the Panel were mot sighted anywhere around Arochukwu Local Government Headquarters, venue of the primaries. He described as an “affront” to him as leader of the Party in Arochukwu Local Government and indeed Party members in Arochukwu, for any person to sit in the comfort of his office or anywhere whatsoever to write an imaginary result of an election that never happened.

Hon. Nkole who revealed that he has never left the PDP since 1998, regretted that despite the Party in the State charging aspirants to the House of Assembly exorbitant and illegal fees, they still did not find it necessary to allow those aspirants to compete in an election.

Hon. Nkole reiterated his confidence in the Leader of the Party and Governor of the State, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu to do the needful. The ranking member of the House of Representatives called on the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP to immediately order for the conclusion of Senate Primaries in Abia North while also prevailing on those concerned to ensure that PDP Aspirants in Arochukwu State Constituency have a day to conduct their primary elections.

Sen. Mao Ohuabunwa, the purported winner of the PDP Abia North primaries could not be reached for comments.
