In what looked like an act common with fiction and Nollywood, the Honourable Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, Enugu State , Dr Surv. Victor Chukwuemeka Nnam, resigned his appointment .
In a letter signed by the seasoned Surveyor. dated 29th October 2021 and addressed to the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Dr. Nnam cited as his reason for his resignation,
“the removal of the PROFESSIONAL HODs UNDER ME ON PUNITIVE GROUND FOR SIMPLY DOING THEIR JOBS DILIGENTLY. As a technocrat and a HUMAN with CONSCIENCE, I CANNOT CONTINUE TO SERVE THE GOVERNMENT WHILE THOSE INNOCENT PROFESSIONALS ARE PUNISHED FOR DOING THEIR WORK”.
The letter which has gone viral on social media has sparked off discussions as to the possibility that politicians are beginning to live beyond parochial interests. Dr. Nnam’s decision to leave his plum job, an act uncommon with Nigerian politicians; particularly those appointed, will continue to generate different shades of controversy
